German Cockroaches

Need a cockroach cleanout? Call the experts at Aspect Pest Control!

German cockroaches are very common globally. They frequently occur in places with high humidity and high temperatures. Despite having wings, and the ability to fly, they usually prefer running away rather than using their wings to fly.

How to Identify German Cockroaches?

German Cockroaches are 0.4 to 0.6 inches long in size. They are tan and dark brown in color.

Where Do Roaches Like to Live?

They are found not only in homes but also in food establishments, hospitals, hotels, and other indoor environments. They like living in dark areas, and hunting for food while it is dark.

When there is a roach infestation, it is common to find cockroaches in cracks, holes, and other crevices. They can be found often in apartment buildings where it is easy for them to move from apartment to apartment.

In kitchens, you will often find German cockroaches living in the kitchen hiding behind the refrigerator and stove.

They are also commonly seen in bathrooms.

How Can I Tell If I Have a  German Cockroach Infestation?

Droppings

These droppings appear as dark spots and smears. They can be seen on wall openings, cracks, and on door tops.

Egg cases

Small egg cases can be found in areas where female German cockroaches are present before they hatch their eggs.

Odor

German cockroaches leave odor due to discharges.

What Do German Cockroaches Feed On?

German cockroaches feed on many things. These include food products including pet food, dirty utensils, soap, toothpaste, bookbinding covers, and even fecal matter of other cockroaches.

Negative Health and Financial Impacts of Roach Infestations

German cockroaches transmit pathogens that contaminate food. Worst, their feces, skin, and other waste can trigger asthma and allergies due to harmful allergens. Prolonged infestations of German cockroaches are difficult to control and could lead to long-term costs.

Our approach to handling German cockroaches from spreading around includes:

Thorough Inspection

We will perform a thorough inspection on the premises at every corner.  Visual inspection in the kitchen, bathroom, and other corners where food and water sources are present.

Other places to inspect include the door sides, kitchen cabinets including the corners inside cabinet drawers, and at the back of the refrigerator and stove. These places are ideally known as the safe havens for German cockroaches.

Customized Treatment

Customized treatments include traps and the use of chemicals depending on the magnitude of the infestation problem.

We also use traps in areas where German cockroaches can appear. These traps are strategically placed in cabinets beneath the sink and next to the stove; on floor sides near the refrigerator and stove; next to trash bins and in the bathroom.

Post-treatment measures

There are 2 goals for treatments.

  • Eliminate cockroach infestation from your premises.
  • Targeted plans to ensure that cockroaches are treated efficiently and effectively post-treatment.
